LizardSkinT Ceramic Insulation is an advanced, water-based composition of air-filled ceramic and silica particles combined with acrylic binders. Proven aerospace technology enables amazing LizardSkinT Ceramic Insulation to
- Reduce engine and solar heat transfer by 25-30 degrees or more
- Reduce noise by as much as 10-12 decibels
- Protect surfaces from moisture and corrosion
- Withstand temperatures to 500° F.(260° C.)
Typical Uses
LizardSkinT Ceramic Insulation is used by leading custom car and truck builders
to reduce heat and noise transfer, seal unexposed body surfaces, and under fender
wells to prevent starring from stones and gravel. It can be applied by spray, brush
or rolled on, to any clean and dry primed or painted rust-free surface such as firewalls, inside and bottom of floorpans, transmission tunnels, doors, inside door-skins, hoods, trunk lids, under headliners, inside fenders, panel van walls & more. It may be sanded and painted if desired, with no loss in thermal or acoustic performance.
Important Manufacturer Recommendations
For best results, LizardSkin should be applied with an approved spray gun/nozzle at
60-100 psi. For specific recommendations, call 877-278-9468. Brush and roller application is also possible.

Application Instructions - Spray
Prepare surface for coating and mask areas not to be coated. For best results, ambient temperature should be at least 70°F.(21°C.)
Before spray application, the following steps must be observed:
- Attach hose to siphon tube on bottom of spray gun
- Slide metal siphon tube into flat cut end of hose
- Remove plastic lid from LizardSkin pail and cut an "X" in center large enough to accommodate the hose. Attach clamp to siphon tube below lid to hold metal siphon tube to bottom of pail. (optional)
- Mix LizardSkin Ceramic Insulation. Insert stir paddle bit into variable speed drill and mix product at low rpm (300 or less) to a creamy consistency. (Normally 2-4 min.) Do NOT whip product at high speed.
- Place stir paddle in water bucket for cleaning immediately after mixing. Replace lid on material and snap into place.
- Attach air hose to gun. Use pressure of 40-60 psi, depending on gun and conditions.
- Spray from 6-9 inches. Take care to avoid runs. Apply at thickness of .010" to .015" per coat. Allow to fully dry to touch between coats. Dry finish will be flat/dull. Typical application requires 3-4 coats for desired thickness of .040-060"/40-60 mils (credit card). In most cases, thicker application results in better thermal and acoustic performance. When pail is empty, simply move lid (and siphon hose) to next pail and continue.
Clean Up
When last pail is empty, or full coat is applied, pull tube and hose out of pail and place in bucket of clean water, triggering until spraying clean water. Remove nozzle and clean gun barrel and nozzle with soap & water.
Drying Time
Additional coats can be applied when surface is dry to the touch, usually about 15-20 minutes. Curing time before sanding or other finishing is 24 hours at 70 degrees F.(21°C.)
